To celebrate Poetry Month and World Book Day, we've pulled a book from our library to showcase what a 100-year-old poetry book looks like! Published in 1890, this volume by James Russell Lowell is part of a set featuring a collection of his writings, all bound in matching covers.

James Deering's library housed over 700 volumes, encompassing contemporary literature, poetry, travel guides, encyclopedias, and political theory. Notable authors in the collection include Mark Twain, Robert Louis Stevenson, Edith Wharton, Sir Walter Scott, H.G. Wells, and Victor Hugo.
