A GUIDE TO VISITING VIZCAYA with children
At Vizcaya, we understand that planning an outing with children requires a bit more preparation. Please use this page as a guide to help your family discover the magic of this National Historic Landmark.
Here you’ll find useful information, such as maps and stroller information, as well as engaging activities and materials to help make Vizcaya equally fun for bigs and littles.

Where to Eat
The Vizcaya Café and Shop is located on the north side of the Main House, next to the Swimming Pool Grotto and across from the Orchidarium.
Visitors can enjoy grab-and-go food options and beverages as well as shop for gifts inspired by Vizcaya’s architecture, gardens and collections. Only guests who have purchased museum admissions have access to the Café and Shop.
The Café is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when the museum is open to the public. Click below to learn more and check out the menu.
Activities for Children
COLORING BOOK
Whether your child is an aspiring artist or just loves to color, the “Vibrant Vizcaya” coloring book helps open your little one’s eyes to the wonders of this intricate estate.
The coloring book can be downloaded and printed in advance of your visit. It can also be used as a digital resource on a mobile device in tandem with notetaking or coloring apps.
Strollers
THE MAIN HOUSE
- Due to the dimension of historic arches and doorways, only single strollers and strollers less than 25 inches wide may enter the Main House.
- Larger strollers are only allowed in the gardens. These may be left in the Entrance Loggia or outside the front entrance to the house.
- Please be careful to avoid contact with doorways, walls or furnishings.
- Note that the first floor of the Main House features a number of steps in different areas.
- No strollers are permitted on the second floor of the house.
THE GARDENS
- Strollers are welcome throughout the gardens.
- Please note the estate features a variety of different terrains, including coral floors, grass, gravel and sand, among others.
DAY CAMP
What are your children up to on teacher planning days? They could visit Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for an exciting new Day Camp!
Through this unique drop-off opportunity, children can explore the historic estate in a supervised, educational setting that includes tours, art projects, games, and the exploration of Vizcaya’s natural beauty and habitats. Campers will tour the estate, make art, play games, and explore Vizcaya’s natural communities in a supervised, educational setting.
Ages are 5-12. Campers will be sorted into groups by their age range.
PRICING
The cost provided below is per child per day.
- Member Rate: $40
- Non-member Rate: $60
Space is limited to 50 spots per date. Save with a multi-day package. Email us for more information.
Vizcaya will also have a limited number of scholarships available to support inquiring families.

Individuals visiting as part of a school program or tour may be photographed or captured on video for the purpose of creating educational content as well as for the promotion of the museum and its programs. Any guests, especially children, that are not to be photographed should be flagged to Vizcaya’s School Programs Manager or equivalent liaison upon arrival at the estate. We appreciate your cooperation to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for all.

- 10:30-10:45 a.m.: Snack break
- 10:45-11:30 a.m.: Scavenger hunt
- 11:30-11:45 a.m.: Lunch and games
- 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Artmaking
- 1:30-2:00 p.m.: Share projects
- 2:00-3:30 p.m.: Outdoor games (chalk art, cyanotype art, jump ropes, 1920s-themed lawn games, etc.)
- 3:30-5:00 p.m.: Movie time!
- 5:00-5:30 p.m.: Pick-up with ID verification for authorized adults
