With its majestic architecture and magical gardens on Biscayne Bay, Vizcaya is a stunning venue for weddings, corporate affairs and social events. Those who have enjoyed an evening at Vizcaya with family, friends, colleagues or clients know there is nothing quite like it!

Vizcaya is available for rent every day of the year except for certain major holidays. Our experienced staff in the facility rental program is eager to work with you to make your special event memorable.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS

The base fee for evening rentals applies to 100 guests between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Further fees apply for additional guests, extended hours, and/or tenting. You and your guests have the exclusive use of the inner courtyard, outside terraces and gardens.

Please note that Vizcaya provides only the site and works with many pre-approved caterers and vendors to suit every budget and design vision. All prices are subject to change.

BASE RENTAL FEE

  • $23,000

SUPPLEMENTARY FEES

  • For each guest over 100*: $25
  • Sun.-Thurs: For additional hour between 11 p.m. and 12 midnight: $2,400
  • Fri. and Sat.: For each additional hour between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.: $2,400
  • A 7% sales tax applies to all fees.

*The maximum number of guests is 300. No exceptions.

TENT RENTAL FEES

A tent on the East Terrace is required for events of more than 100 guests.

  • Clear tent size 33 feet by 113 feet : $8,500
  • Clear tent size 33 feet by 180 feet: $12,000

EARLY LOAD-IN FEES

Your vendors may begin unloading to set up on the day of your event at 3:00 p.m. on the upper and lower East Terraces. If you need more time, the following fees are required for early load-in and must be paid in advance.

  • 12 noon-3:00 p.m.: $9,000
  • 9:00 a.m.-12 noon: $18,000
  • 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.: $18,000

DEPOSIT

A deposit of $7,500 is due two weeks after we approve your event date request. The $7,500 deposit consists of $5,000, non-refundable, to be applied toward the final payment, and $2,500 that constitutes a refundable security deposit, according to the terms of the facility rental agreement.

GIFTS FOR YOUR GUESTS

Vizcaya’s Café and Shop offers a number of gifts for your special guests, including wine glasses and champagne flutes, coasters and chocolate bars bearing our distinctive logo.

POLICE OFFICERS

Vizcaya recommends hiring police officers for larger events (over 200 guests) for traffic control and pedestrian crossing on South Miami Avenue. Vizcaya will retain Miami-Dade police officers at sole cost to client or hosting organization for $150/hour each (four hour minimum).

Vizcaya offers the option of intimate daytime garden ceremonies for those who wish to celebrate a special occasion, such as a marriage or other form of personal commitment on our beautiful grounds. Daytime ceremonies may take place anywhere in the gardens during the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no access to the Main House for garden ceremony clients or their guests. Photographers may accompany the group. We regret that we cannot allow chairs, wedding canopies or runners for the daytime garden ceremony. You may bring only hand-held chuppahs. We suggest that our daytime garden ceremony clients consider a reception at the Vizcaya Café and Shop, drawing from its gourmet menu. Vizcaya does not allow food or drinks to be brought for or consumed during garden ceremonies. There’s no better place than Vizcaya Museum and Gardens to tread lightly with an environmentally-conscious event inspired by the beauty already found throughout the estate.

Consider a simple Daytime Garden Ceremony on Vizcaya’s Garden Mound under its majestic oak trees, surrounded by your closest friends and family.

For your Evening Ceremony, most opt for elegant, reusable china and glassware. For your cocktail hour consider working with caterers that offer bamboo drink stirrers instead of plastic. Your menu can consider food selections from local farms and markets, reducing your carbon footprint. Plant-based centerpieces such as orchids allow guests to take home a beautiful gift that helps to clear carbon dioxide and refresh the air with oxygen.

Every day there are new and better ways to incorporate environmentally-conscious choices. Below are some questions to consider as you plan your event.

  • Does the caterer and my menu choice use locally grown and/or organic food items?
  • Do my vendors use electric, hybrid or biodiesel-powered delivery vehicles?
  • How much of my decor and other elements are compostable and do the vendors compost or recycle after the event?
  • Do my vendors use energy efficient lighting and Energy Star-rated appliances; do they actively recycle

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a treasured National Historic Landmark. With breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay, Vizcaya is one of Miami’s most beautiful locations for weddings and events. Because of the delicate nature of Vizcaya’s historical and living collections, special care needs to be taken by all our guests, including those attending your special event.

Facility rental clients must review and sign Vizcaya’s Facility Rental Permit application including its Rental Rules and Regulations as part of hosting an event at this historic estate.

Clients may only use caterers, planners and vendors from Vizcaya’s Approved Vendor List. These vendors have agreed to Vizcaya’s rules and restrictions and have demonstrated respect for the sensitivity of the Museum and Gardens. We can in no way be responsible for any contractual agreements you make with them. Catering Permits, Event Planner Permits and Rental Equipment Permits will not be issued unless they are an Approved Vendor.

What time is the museum available for rentals?

Vizcaya is available for rental in the evening only, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. For an additional charge of $2,000 per hour these hours can be extended for events Sun.-Thurs. until 12 midnight; for events Fri. and Sat. until 1 a.m. at the latest.

What is Vizcaya’s capacity, both indoors and out?

Vizcaya is best suited for smaller events. The available areas inside the Main House can accommodate up to 100 seated guests. The East Terrace, which overlooks Biscayne Bay, can accommodate up to 300 seated guests.

What areas are available for a ceremony, cocktail party and reception?

Ceremonies can be held in the gardens, or in the Courtyard of the Main House. Cocktail parties can be held either in the Courtyard of the Main House, the gardens, or the terraces that overlook Biscayne Bay. Smaller receptions (100 guests or fewer) may be held in the Courtyard of the Main House.

Larger receptions (100 guests or more) may be held on the terraces that overlook Biscayne Bay and Vizcaya’s historic gardens. Tenting is recommended for events held on the upper East Terrace and required for any events of more than 100 guests.

Does Vizcaya handle catering, rentals and/or décor?

Vizcaya provides the location only and does not handle the catering/rental/décor aspect of your event. Vizcaya will supply a list of Approved Vendors that are committed to respect our historic property and follow all policies.

Do we need to use vendors from your list?

Clients may only use caterers, planners and vendors from Vizcaya’s Approved Vendor List. These vendors have agreed to Vizcaya’s rules and restrictions and have demonstrated respect for the sensitivity of the Museum and Gardens. What is the price range for caterers on your approved list?

Prices vary widely depending on menu and caterer selected.

At what time can set-up of evening rentals begin?

Since we are open to the public during the day, set up may not begin until 3:00 p.m. on the upper East Terrace, 4:00 p.m. in the gardens, and 5:15 p.m. in the Courtyard of the Main House. For those clients who require more time, earlier set-ups are available on the East Terrace for an additional fee.

Does Vizcaya provide parking for my guests, what is the fee, and how far is the parking lot to the entrance?

Vizcaya’s parking lot provides 125 spaces and is included in the evening rental fee. The parking lot is roughly 300 feet from the Main House. For larger events, additional parking is available across South Miami Avenue from the Main House.

Do you have electrical capabilities available outside for musicians, bands and/or sound and lighting companies?

There is a 200 amp (3) phase tie-in for the East Terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay and also for the Garden Mound.

Is there access by boat from the Bay?

Vizcaya does not permit access from the water.
