Join Tonalxochitl (toh-nahl-shoh-cheetl) and members from Indigenous Aztec communities across the country to celebrate the 3rd annual gathering of traditional family Danza Conchera.
In Danza Conchera, we gather in a sacred circle, wear our traditional regalia, and use sacred instruments such as the huehuetl (vertical drum), teponaztli (horizontal drum), ayacameh (rattles), and ayoyomeh (seeds wrapped around the ankles). We also burn resins and herbs such as copal and cedar for clearing and blessing the space. An altar filled with offerings and sacred objects is always set up in the center of the circle.
Anyone is welcome to come and see the Danza and stay as long as they would like!
To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
