We are grateful for the support of our volunteers and we encourage you to explore the stimulating opportunities below for helping Vizcaya. For the latest volunteer opportunities, please see the events section on our Facebook page.
Help keep Vizcaya beautiful by volunteering to assist Vizcaya’s Horticulture department with special projects that will enhance the visual appearance and natural environment of the historic Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
Vizcaya Volunteer Guides
The purpose of the Vizcaya Volunteer Guides (including Greeters) is to serve as ambassadors, promoting awareness of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens by engaging our community and its visitors in learning through the arts, history, and the environment. All Guides support and advance Vizcaya Museum and Gardens’ mission, core values, and educational philosophy. Vizcaya Volunteer Guides advance these ideas by conducting guides tours and providing visitor services engagement with the general public. Vizcaya Volunteer Guides act as interpreters of the museum’s house, gardens, and collections by giving visitors a deeper understanding and appreciation of the museum utilizing techniques of dialogue and inquiry.
Vizcaya Volunteer Greeter
Interested and potential Guides are invited by the Learning Division to serve as Greeters. Greeters welcome guests to Vizcaya offering basic information concerning the museum and wayfinding for visitors. Greeters also assist ticket booth operations including, but not limited to, the distribution of audio tours and other learning materials or resources to visitors. Greeters conduct regular observations of public and reserved tours, throughout the estate, to better ascertain if they would like to enroll in the Volunteer Guide training program. Greeters sign on for a 3 month probationary period to be evaluated by the Adult Learning and Engagement Manager. The Greeter program offers the opportunity for individuals to pursue training to transition to Active Vizcaya Volunteer Guides or to remain in the role of Greeter.
The next Greeter Guide Informational Reception takes place February 8, 2018, 6 – 8 p.m., Register online today!
