Revitalizing Vizcaya Village 

Vizcaya Village will infuse our vibrant community with enriching activities in an inspiring public space. This portion of our campus is undergoing an extensive multiphase project to restore historic buildings and landscapes and create new spaces for community engagement and gathering.

We invite you to support our ambitious vision and to enjoy the Village during this momentous transformation.

Current and Completed

• Village Café: In the historic Superintendent’s House; open Saturdays and Sundays, 9:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. 
• Farmers Market: Every Sunday, 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., along with urban agriculture, wellness and other community programs. 
• Access: Via the 32nd Road gate, Saturdays and Sundays, welcoming neighbors, pedestrians and cyclists, with a direct link to the Metrorail and Underline. 
• Improvements: The historic Paint Shop and Superintendent’s House have been renovated, a pilot Field has been established to support urban agriculture programs, and a beautiful Pine Rockland-inspired landscape can be enjoyed from a nature path along the southern boundary.  

These improvements were made possible by Miami-Dade County with additional support from the National Park Service’s Save America’s Treasures program. 

Underway

• Construction: Restoration of five remaining historic Village buildings has begun and will be completed late 2026: Dairy Barn, Chicken House, Stable, Wagon Shed and Farmhouse.

• Center for Learning and Discovery: Thanks to a landmark donation from Kenneth C. Griffin, the picturesque courtyard and four historic buildings that housed Vizcaya’s barns and stables are becoming the Center for Learning and Discovery. The Center will provide a teaching kitchen for urban agricultural programs, an artist’s studio and art-making classroom, seminar-style spaces and a conservation lab.

• Farmhouse: This rehabilitated structure will accommodate archival exhibits and a reference library.

Futuro

• Dynamic Master Plan: Vizcaya is seeking approval to advance the balance of its long-term master plan for the Village, developed in partnership with renowned preservation and landscape architects Beyer Blinder Belle, Nelson Byrd Woltz, and Heritage Landscapes.

• The Field: At the heart of this vision is the Field, a new edible garden that will evoke Vizcaya’s agricultural roots and become a programmatic focal point.

• Villa Serena: Vizcaya is partnering with Kenneth C. Griffin to pursue relocation to the Village of this historic house—built by American orator and politician William Jennings Bryan. If approved by various governmental entities, this project—funded solely by Mr. Griffin—will ensure Villa Serena’s preservation and public access while enhancing Vizcaya’s physical campus and interpretive capacity.
• Other Amenities: The updated master plan includes a new Welcome Center, activation of the landscape through Discovery Trails, a Greenhouse and a Program and Events Pavilion.
