MIAMI – Climate change is impacting us all, in ways we expected, and in surprising ways too. This coming August, people from all walks of life will gather at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens to share personal stories about the impact of climate change during the “Climate Against Humanity” program, which takes place in August 2022.
“We’re not talking about projections for the far or near future, but things are happening today – as we speak,” shared Rebecca Peterson, Vizcaya’s Programs Manager. “If climate change has affected your mental health, your wallet, your neighborhood … then Climate Against Humanity is the perfect opportunity to share your story.”
It’s important to note that you don’t need any professional storytelling or public speaking experience to participate. What’s more, Vizcaya is partnering with RAW Storytelling’s Enid Casablanca to provide participating speakers free coaching leading up to the date of the program. Individual coaching sessions take place virtually and share tips and tricks to tell a great story in public.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Stories can be submitted online. All you need to provide is your contact information and a brief summary of the story you’d like to share. Although only a summary is required to apply, potential storytellers should be prepared to fill 10-15 minutes of time during the program at the end of summer.

To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
SOBRE EL MUSEO Y JARDINES DE VIZCAYA
El Museo y Jardines de Vizcaya es un Monumento Histórico Nacional que preserva sus recursos culturales y medioambientales para que la gente conecte con el pasado, comprenda el presente y forje el futuro.
