Josh Aronson

Welcome to Wonder transforms Vizcaya’s walking paths into a contemplative journey where photography, landscape and human presence intersect. Created by Miami-based artist Josh Aronson, this site-responsive installation features intimate photographic encounters that reveal unexpected connections between people and place. Exploring themes of looking and being seen, concealment and revelation, belonging and identity, Aronson’s work welcomes moments of pause, reflection and discovery. Through this immersive experience, visitors are invited to consider the subtle ways we shape, and are shaped by, the landscapes we inhabit. As Aronson describes, “the installation becomes both an artwork and an invitation: to enter Vizcaya through a state of wonder, openness, and discovery.”  

Josh Aronson (b. Toronto, Canada, 1994) is a Miami-based artist and photographer raised in Florida whose work explores identity, belonging and landscape in the American South. Aronson’s stage photography considers the landscape as a space for memory, play and transformation. His work has been presented at the NSU Art Museum (Florida), Ogden Museum of Southern Art (Louisiana), Belfast Photo Festival (Northern Ireland), and Nizhniy Tagil Museum of Fine Art (Russia). Aronson’s photographs have been featured in The New York Times, The Paris Review, Financial Times, Frieze, Italian Vogue, Teen Vogue, Dazed, i-D, The Guardian and Apartamento. His book, Tropicana (2020), is part of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Library of Congress. In 2024, Aronson became the first artist to receive both the People’s Choice Award and Juror’s Prize for No Vacancy, the City of Miami Beach’s public art commission. In 2025, he received LensCulture’s Critics’ Choice Award.
