Holiday Evening at Vizcaya
December 18 at 6:00 pm$10
The winter holidays are special to Vizcaya because James Deering, the owner, came to the estate on Christmas Day in 1916. To celebrate the occasion and the holiday season, each year Vizcaya decorates the Main House as it might have been 100 years ago when Deering was in residence. Visit the Main House anytime during Vizcaya’s normal operating hours to see the festive décor!
During the evening, there are lots of activities to do with friends and family.
Art-making: this year, we’re celebrating the season with light! The art-making activities will be different kinds of lanterns to make and take home. Think colorful stained glass style lanterns. Or a giant scene on the East Loggia doors cast in light and colored by you! Activities vary in difficulty so there is something for everyone!
Area guiding: have a question about the estate? There will be lots of folks around who can fill you in.
Hot chocolate: it’s Miami, we know. But the season isn’t complete without a cup of hot chocolate. Our friends at Dade County Food Group will be serving it up delicious and piping hot!
Decor: the Main House is decorated as James Deering might have done when he lived here 100 years ago. Additionally, we’ll decorate the gardens, again with light. It’s nothing like we’ve done before and certainly embraces the unexpected!
