Looking for something to do with the kids on a Sunday morning? Join us at the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market for a FREE drop-in activity transforming plant material into an enchanting, one-of-a-kind broom for families with children ages 6-12!
What is a besom broom?
The making of brooms, also known as ‘besoms’ or ‘besom brooms’, for centuries were created by simply bundling together falling twigs and attaching them to a long stick. This household tool has become tied in our imaginations, along with black cloaks, black cats, and pointy hats, to witches.
Adults and kids will each craft their besom brooms by bundling twigs, herbs, and charms around a central tree branch to create their own magical tool to complete a costume or craft a pair and use them to decorate front porch planters.
Crafts are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Every person, regardless of age or member status, is required to have a ticket and will not be admitted without one. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are not sold at door.
Making a donation to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens does not grant entry to this program. Health and safety regulations remain in place. This program is rain or shine.
To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.

This program takes place in Vizcaya Village and access is restricted to this space. Program admission does not include access to the Main House and gardens on the east side of the property and only includes access to the Village during program hours, 6-9pm.
