Vizcaya for School Groups

Kids walking to bus Cover of Vizcaya School brochure

Vizcaya presents learning opportunities in an environment unlike any other in Miami. We offer visits, thematic tours, and programs. Our one-hour tours and programs support national and state learning benchmarks in English/Language Arts, History/Social Studies and Visual Arts.

Vizcaya includes 34 public rooms on several floors and 11 acres of grounds, so each tour or program may not include all areas of the Main House and gardens. For a detail description of each experience, our policies and procedures, and reservation instructions, visit our school brochure.

Group Visits

Group Visits are scheduled to give students and teachers the opportunity to explore the Main House and/or gardens on their own, and are available for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

Group Tours
Group Tours are guided experiences designed to engage students in learning through the arts, history and the environment and may be reserved for the Main House and gardens. Thematic tours are presented in English, last one hour and are available to 4th- through 12th-grade students. Groups may select a maximum of two guided thematic tours for their museum experience.

Group Programs
Group Programs can be Vizcaya-led or independent, and are appropriate when teachers want their students to learn about art, history and/or the environment in depth with one of our programs, or have a specific project they would like to facilitate while at Vizcaya.

Vizcaya-Led Programs
These new programs are collaborative, peer-based learning opportunities in which students direct their exploration of real-world issues and essential questions.

Independent Programs
Activities or lessons coordinated and led by teachers for their students onsite at Vizcaya. All activities and lessons must be reserved with the Group Tour Coordinator in advance.

Bus Scholarship Fund
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is pleased to offer a limited number of bus transportation scholarships. Funds may be used for guided tours of the Main House and gardens by 4th- through 12th-grade students in Title I schools. Approved scholarship tours that take place before December 23, 2016 will receive bus transportation and free admission to the museum! After that date, admission costs to the museum are not included and are the responsibility of each school. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to guided tour and bus availability. Applications must be received a minimum of four weeks in advance of requested visit date.
