Guided Tours

Adult Groups may reserve a private Guided Tour of the first floor of the Main House. A separate Guided Tour of the gardens is also offered on a seasonal basis. Tours are 45 minutes in duration and designed to be interactive and provide a basic introduction to the concepts behind the creation of the estate. All tours foster inquiry and audience engagement, empowering participants to make personal and meaningful connections with Vizcaya while encouraging new ways of thinking.

Guided Tour participants are welcome to explore additional areas of the Main House and/or gardens on their own, before or after their tour(s).

Exclusive Main House tours available from June-September

  • Mythology - Explore a cross-section of Vizcaya’s collection inspired by the Gods, Goddesses, and creatures from cultures around the world.
  • Nude vs Naked - Explore the depiction of the human form through Vizcaya’s collection and learn about this widely discussed topic in art, culture, and politics.
  • Women at Vizcaya - Women who defied stereotypes played a role at Vizcaya. This tour explores how those women contributed to Vizcaya’s history.
  • Smart House - Despite its antique aesthetic, Vizcaya was actually one of the most modern and complex homes to be built in all of South Florida. This tour explores the state of the art technology that was integrated into Vizcaya.
  • Lost Spaces - This tour will give visitors an overview of Vizcaya’s Contemporary Arts Program (CAP) and discuss how Vizcaya was and continues to be an inspiration for contemporary artists.

Adult Groups may reserve a self-directed Group Visit of the Main House and/or gardens to explore the estate independently.

To facilitate the experience, complimentary estate maps are available on-site in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Creole. Additionally, many areas of the Main House and gardens feature interpretive labels with descriptive and historical information in English and Spanish.
